The 33%

It’s safe to say that smartphones have changed the way businesses think and work. The digital complexities of marketing campaigns have progressed by significant measures so that everything stays simple for the consumer. A consumer that everyone wants to believe is surrounded by a world of smartphones. However, deep down, we all know that dream is not complete truth; in fact, it’s far from it.

In 2015, Pew Research Center found that “Nearly two-thirds of Americans are now smartphone owners…”

That is an incredible amount of people that can be reached through mobile marketing via apps, in-game mobile marketing, push notification, location-based messaging, and so on, each one of those methods can generate leads and customer loyalty.

But what about the other 33% of mobile users who don’t own a smartphone?

At first, 33% doesn’t seem like a large percentage, but when you think about 33% of the United States, that’s a big number. Push notification and location-based marketing may be great things, but there is one major flaw that slips through these big ideas, lack of reach. However, before you throw the mobile marketing dream aside, there remains one mobile solution that can reach the 33%.

SMS

Otherwise known as (Short Message Service), SMS sends a message with a 98% read rate. A read rate higher than email (20%) and push notification (50%) combined. With SMS, every mobile user can be reached. That’s the pro that outweighs any con thrown at an SMS marketing solution. And the only con directed toward SMS would be the issues regarding privacy and legality. But thanks to updated FCC regulations, the scary method of “invasive text-message marketing” is a thing of the past. With the FCC’s newly set standards, mobile marketing companies who have followed regulations from day one, and specialize in SMS, increase potential for every segment of the marketplace.

IRIO is a mobile marketing company that has been in the industry for ten years and currently is a stronghold of FCC knowledge. They offer FCC compliant mobile marketing services, whether it’s a standalone SMS solution or an additional SMS service for other forms of mobile marketing.(apps, push, in-game, location-based services, etc.)

Contact IRIO, and get a free quote for your next mobile marketing campaign via SMS, and discover (with a 98% read rate) how texting changes things.
